Now Available: iOS Live Accessibility Testing on Real Device Cloud

Sauce Labs now offers a built-in Accessibility Inspector for iOS live testing on real devices. Navigate and interact with your app using keyboard shortcuts, hear audio feedback for each element, and verify accessibility compliance across your app, system dialogs, and web views on all iOS 15+ devices.

Why It Matters

  • Be Compliance-Ready: Meet the EAA (European Accessibility Act) and ADA (The Americans with Disabilities Act) requirements by validating screen reader performance on real devices, before audits.
  • Get Full Coverage: This release rounds out the Sauce Labs mobile accessibility solution, across iOS and Android (TalkBack), combined with axe DevTools for automation.

  • Reduce Toil: Eliminate the overhead of managing physical hardware by running high-fidelity accessibility tests at scale in the cloud.

Key Features

  • Full keyboard navigation using arrow keys to move between accessible elements, following the same ordering as VoiceOver.

  • Audio feedback reads each element's spoken description (label, type, and position).

  • Automatic screen change detection helps the cursor reposition to the first element on the new screen.

  • Works across your app, system apps, permission dialogs, and webviews.

Getting Started

  1. Start a Live Testing session on an iOS real device
  2. Open Device Settings from the left side toolbar
  3. Toggle Accessibility to On or press “control + shift + A”
  4. Use your keyboard or UI to perform accessibility testing

Note: Your app must be debuggable or have the instrumentation flag enabled in App Settings.
